Our Meetings

Our Meetings

The faces we see

The people we meet

Are all intertwined

In the path of our feet

It may seem like a pass

It may look like a chance

But when all’s said and done

It was part of the plan

And it’s difficult to fathom

It’s hard to see

How the world revolves around

Interactions of you and of me

I may not say hello

I may not see your face

But the meaning of the meeting

Goes beyond just this place

Or to think of the man

To think of that girl

That you just passed by

Is the key to your world

If we stop to just think

If we pause to remember

That each moment of our lives

Is the key to another

It’s the fleeting of time

The passing of years

That reminds us that destiny

Is so very near

To keep fresh in the mind

But the thing to recall

Is that our paths will cross

Those who have been called

We walk with a purpose

To a place to be reached

Yet fail to notice

The purpose of another, of each

Let’s walk to realize this

And slow down the pace

That everyone in our lives

Is a part of the lace

The fabric of life

Interwoven with time

Is made up of those

Who pass through in your life and mine.

I found this poem stashed away in my files. I wrote it in January of last year, but thought it to be a good reminder of today. Appreciate the people in your life, even if you don’t always know how they fit into the story.
