I ran across this quote a few weeks ago and it was one of those things that just stuck. I read quite a bit of inspirational materials, including short quotes of truism, but this one just seemed to penetrate a little deeper than the rest.
” Even after all this time, the Sun never says to the Earth, “You owe me.” Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky.”
It prompted me to think about the why behind a lot of the things that I do for others. Do I serve in a spirit of love, or am I compelled to act because of selfish motivation?
How would the world be different, how would our relationships and friendships change, and what new opportunities would we begin to see if we started doing things for others with no expectation of reciprocity? The breadth and depth of life starts to expand in ways that were once limited by selfish motivation.
Let’s all be more like the Sun and allow the light of pure kindness for another to light our world.
